The Shooting Of The Messenger

They shot Bambi and it has destroyed the "messenger matters" narrative.

Over the last two days, a small section of Irelands political left wing, the Woke liberals, attempted carry out a character assassination of one of Irelands most respected young people. If you are not aware of who Garron Noone is, I will try to describe him here for you before I go into my thoughts about the explosion of abuse that has come his way. Noone appears to have lived a quite life before striking fame with his satirical takes on common Irish food and drinks. He is also a very talented singer and musician and has detailed at length his battles with self esteem and going outside of his house. He has captured hearts and minds with his humour and infectious personality, amassing over 1 million followers on his Instagram alone and has featured on national television and radio. He is also clearly one of the most normal and unassuming people you could every come across. It is with deep regret that I must inform you that Noone has deactivated his accounts due to receiving an avalanche of online abuse following a piece of commentary he provided after Conor McGregor’s viral Whitehouse press conference. Noone made the fatal mistake of trying to appease his audience who demanded that he give his opinion on it all. In making some of the most measured, rational, middle of the road comments about Irelands immigration racket Noone has unwittingly placed himself inside the dystopian Thunderdome of Irish cancel culture. This cancellation attempt has opened up what can only be described as a disturbance in the force. A portal for people who have been silenced and bullied into submission to walk through and enter the fight. People are up in arms about the way he is being treated and the lions share of Irish society are defending him. You see, Garron Noone is not some run of the mill mouthpiece. He is in fact, one of the sweetest, gentle and likeable people in the influencer space online. He has amassed a phenomenal following based off his personality and relatable comedic observations. He is somebody who would never have opened his mouth about this issue if it wasn’t offending his sensibilities. He has always shown real ability to navigate these issues and has tried to stay out of the culture war. Seeing his take on McGregor’s words in the Whitehouse put a lump in my throat as I knew there was pressure on him for a long time now to get him to commit to either being an establishment mouthpiece and RTE darling or to abstain from becoming a performing monkey for the woke mob. Noone has remained neutral and A-political longer than almost anybody and represented the very epitome of getting on with things and having the craic. The lump in my throat was there because I knew we were about to see the burning of Irelands most normal and relatable person at the stake and burn him they did. The hoard of zombies that were fresh off the back of feasting on the battered and bruised character of Conor McGregor, rounded on Noone in a frenzy. The intense hatred and vitriol of McGregor was transferred directly to Noone without any adjustment or alteration. When I saw the sheer scale of emotional ordinance coming his way, my cynical subconscious broke through and screamed inside my head. Do they realise Noone is not the person involved in a civil rape trial? Do they realise he is not a cocaine fuelled old man annihilator? The literal personification of respectable and relatable Irish male shattered their fake utopia and so he must be destroyed. I find myself asking, does the messenger really matter?

The last few years of Irish life have been difficult for the regular joe soap. They have had their country turned into an market obsessed jungle. Mass Migration is destroying what it means to be Irish. It is destroying the character of our towns and cities. It is placing natives at odds with foreigners because of the observable differences in social protection afforded to us and also the demographic question is becoming more and more pertinent. The type of people who have attacked Noone are also the champions of this economy, this way of “living”. They have attempted to control and censor any criticism to their migration driven property bubble, leading to sophisticated screening methods being put in place that are designed to keep representative opinion out of the media and news cycles. People like garron Noone end up being pushed hard by the establishment and media powers in order to build him up like a champion race horse. This thorough-breeding process creates people like the Two Jonnies, Noone and others in a test tube like environment while they also grab hold of old world acts like Tommy Tiernan and remould them into neutered versions of themselves, capable only of intense approval of “The Message” and manufactured disapproval of the outgroup. Tiernan hasn’t been funny for a long time due to his muzzle and that’s why people like Garron Noone are so important to them. He is raw and infectious. He is pure. He has been love bombed by the establishment because the needed him to be pro-message or at a minimum, selectively silent. Unfortunately for them, Noone is not a feckless clout chaser. He is not protective of the gravy train or the golden goose that is the Montrose greenlight. Noone is an intellectually honest person who refused to allow a desperate narrative be laundered through him and his platform. Noone-washing was not a concept he was comfortable with and he clearly felt like he had to plant his standard in the ground exactly where planted it. Stunning and brave, but sincerely so.

Now it must be said that the immediate disappearance of Noone from the internet in the aftermath of his mild take on immigration is clear sign that this man is not suited for the harsh world of obtuse political discussion or even scrutiny. Maybe you could say he is too delicate and should toughen up. The irony here is that is where the issue lies. These talking points are not obtuse or harsh or racist. They are only stated to be so by a State backed minority who drape themselves in the fabric of empathy, virtue and righteousness in order to carry out this assault on our public square and those who seek to participate in it. People like Garron Noone are the reason I am so vocal in society and online on these issues. he and other beautiful souls like him must be protected from these animals for our society to be enjoyable and full of wholesome characters. Noone represents the zenith of honesty and good will in our society. He represents the successful upkeep of the Irish spirit that the people behind this attack want to stamp out. He was always in danger from them the moment his big Irish head appeared on our feeds as he was immediately seen as the continuation of Irishness in a society where this was discouraged. He became one of Irelands infinity stones, a well spring of our collective consciousness, capable of changing our source code at will. This immense power was not sought by him. He did not revel in the fact he held the reigns of mainstream Irish thought. He probably found it hilarious that he ended up as a national treasure through uploading videos about shrinkflation in the confectionary industry, but you could tell he was conscious of the influence at his fingertips. His comments on the McGregor Whitehouse statements were calculated and volunteered out of a sense of duty that won out over self-preservation. A true act of bravery from a normally reserved individual. His message was don’t shoot the messenger and focus instead on the message. Which brings me to a final point and admission of fault on my behalf.

I have held a core belief that the messenger must be presentable, acceptable and normal. The messenger must be capable and faultless. I am now starting to realise that this is perhaps both right and wrong at the same time. Conor McGregor and Garron Noone are completely on opposite ends of the scale in this regard. One is respectable, one is not. One is capable, one is not. One is toxic, the other is not. On any metric you put up on the board, Noone and McGregor are diametrically opposed to each other yet their message was exactly the same, Ireland has an immigration problem. Both messengers in this case were brutally attacked with exactly the same vitriol. This shows me that the messenger doesn’t matter at all, particularly so when they are dead fucking right. If messengers matter, why is Garron Noone persona non grata? This further opens up my mind to the realities of the importance of our fight. In the arena of free speech, we somehow fended off an attack from the state on this freedom. If the Hate Speech Bill passed as intended last year, Garron Noone would have been reported en-masse to the Gards, accused of being guilty of a hate crime and prosecuted by the State. He would have been smeared in the media during his trial. If found guilty, he would have received a custodial sentence for his video. This startling fact should season the anger we all feel watching him being attacked by the very worst people in our society. It should also bring to the fore the discussion around true political identity. Who is really far right and who isn’t and so what if we are either way? If Garron Noone is the test case for extremism then we are nearly at the end of this. The wheels are falling off. The light is there at the end of the tunnel. Just a little further …

Lastly, I wanted to say a word or two of support directed at Garron Noone but I came across a tweet that simply cannot be topped. It is perfect and originates from one of my favourite, observational Twitter accounts.
