“Save Our Neutrality Vigil
Town Hall
Kilkenny City
Tuesday 25th March
6-7 pm
For last while I have been eying up a campaign on Neutrality. I am finished with the over simplified idea of left and right in Irish politics as we are now in a phase of resistance on issues that require the entire attention of the Irish Republic. It is backwards and restrictive particularly so when you hold traditional Irish positions such as neutrality, unity and sovereignty, to see these issues as partisan. These issues transcend the culture war-nonsense. I invite all political perspectives who value neutrality to join me in Kilkenny for an hour on Tuesday evening.
The goal of this meeting is to take the first step in creating a cross-political bulwark against the EU and NATO militarisation of Ireland. I will essentially be standing there for an hour and chatting to whoever chooses to attend. I intend to establish a weekly meeting. There will be no speeches etc. The goal instead is to provide a visible resistance to Governemnt policy on neutrality.
I don’t care if you are party affiliated or if we have opposed each other on other issues. I ask that you come down to the town hall, even if just in your own little group etc. and you will be warmly received. I am asking only that attendees be mature and thoughtful with their flags and banners and keep them on message.
Our message on the night will be that Neutrality is non negotiable. This is not a controversial topic and therefore should be the ideal evening for people who are interested in politics to engage with activists and other members of the public on these issues safely and comfortably. Hopefully I will see you there.
Regards,
Stephen Delaney.”
